History of ice cream

Hello everybody~!! I am Geoffrey. This blog is created by me and my three classmates. They are Michael, Caroline and Pat. The topic of our blog is about "ice cream”.

I believe that everyone should know that what an ice cream is. Ice cream is a frozen dessert. It is a dairy product. Do you know the invention of ice cream? There are many stories surrounding the invention of ice cream. One of the stories is that Marco Polo finding ice cream when he was China. Then, he shared the recipe with people in Italy. Ice cream was brought to Europe by Marco Polo.

After ice cream was imported to United States, ice cream became popular. The reason is that a New Jersey woman, Nancy Johnson, who invented the hand-crank freezer in 1846. It is a first improvement in the manufacture of ice cream. In 1851, Mr. Jacob Fussell established the first large-scale commercial ice cream plant in North America in Baltimore, Maryland. Then, the development of ice cream industry is rapid. Ice cream became an icon of American culture.
